EverQuest 2 Ranger Guide

11.3. Crafting
Crafting is a great way of making money once you get to tier four in particular, as with all the professions there are items that are highly desirable. The key to success is simple C find out what you can make that people want, and give it to them. Keep your prices reasonable to keep your customers coming back for more. Some professions make more money than others, but really it just depends on how much work you’re willing to put into it. All the professions can make good money if you put the effort in.

11.4. Tradeskill Tasks
Live Update 24 revamped the tradeskill system quite thoroughly, and tradeskill tasks are not currently in the game C when they’re reintroduced this section will be updated.

11.5. Farming
Doing adventure writs is a great solo activity that can earn good money as well as status points. In a group, farming instances can bring in a lot of extra cash if you do several of these each day, as you have quite a high chance of getting master chests in these zones.

11.5.1. Solo Farming
Soloing for cash as a ranger can be highly productive if you learn how to kite well. There are many soloable named mobs in the game that have a decent chance of dropping a master chest.

You can also make quite good money (and guild status) by doing adventure writs.Perfect World Money Writ mobs drop quite good cash loot, including armor, adepts, andPerfect World Gold sentient creatures (such as goblins) can also drop coin. If I spend an entire day doingPerfect Power Leveling adventure writs I can easily make a few plat in cash drops, as well as earning lots of status for my guild.

11. Making Money

11.1. Introduction
This section is dedicated to tips on all the different ways you can make money. There are plenty of things you can do to earn quite a lot of cash ifPerfect World Coins you know the right places to go and the particular things people are looking for that will bring in some extra money for you. Even at lower levels you can still make quite good money, as high level people don’t usually want to bother harvesting and farming in newbie zones.

11.2. Making Money at Lower Levels
Harvesting resources and collectibles is the best way of making money when you’re a low level adventurer. Many high level characters, especially raiders, don’t want to spend a lot of time harvesting these items in newbie zones, so there is plenty of opportunity to make money selling T1-3 resources and collectibles in particular.

Basically what you want to do is just harvest every node you see. Rares sell well of course, but you can usually sell even T1 harvests for several silver each, and the resources used to make drinks sell for quite a bit more.

While you are doing this, keep an eye out for ? nodes as well. Cracked bones in particular sell very well, as these are generally the rarest of the bones that are used in the petrified eye collections (petrified eye collection quests are a big favorite with high level people because they give 2% experience each and only require five items).

You will of course make money just through normal adventuring as well C coin rewards are usually quite good even for low levelMaplestory Power quests. However harvesting will provide you with a lot of spare income if you do it consistently enough to get rares regularly.

10.3. Quick Crafting Tips
In your home city, head to any crafting instance to start a series of crafting quests which will take youMaple Story Power Leveling through the basics of each crafting class. This is a good way of getting through the artisan levels, as you get crafting experience for completing the quests as well as for making the items.

You can gain experience faster and make crafting less of a grind by taking advantage of the fact that each timeMaple Story Gold you make a new pristine item, you get an experience bonus. This is especially beneficial if you choose one of the scholar classes, as they have more recipes than outfitters and craftsmen.

You get more experience for crafting items that are close to your own level (just like you get more experience for killing an even-con mob than a green-con one) so for any given level, once you’ve made all your new recipes to pristine, it’s better to finish the level on white con recipes rather than lower level ones. You also get more experience for pristine items even without the bonus, so don’t be tempted to grind out crude items even if you’re just selling them toMaplestory Gold an NPC vendor.

One of the best-kept secrets of crafting is what to wear. Not many people know that crafting without your gear on is the most efficient way to do it. It works this way because the skills that you use while crafting use a percentage of your power, and because you regenerate power at a constant rate. So, to increase your crafting efficiency use a good crafted drink, and keep your power pool as small as possible C taking off your gear works best.

EverQuest 2 Ranger Guide

Carpenters make storage boxes (great for banks and house vaults) as well as all the furniture items that you can decorate your home with. Carpenters don’t really make anything that is useful to you as an adventurer, but it’s a very fun profession anyway.

10.2.2. Outfitter
Outfitters are Armorsmiths, Tailors, and Weaponsmiths.

Armorsmiths make metal armor C heavy and medium. As a scout you’re able to wear medium armor so this is a decent choice.

Tailors make light and very light armor, as well as backpacks and hex dolls. All of these items can be useful to you as a ranger. Crafted light armor has great stats (much better than crafted medium armor) and hex dolls are a must for all classes so if you’re looking to wear your creations; the tailor is a great choice.

Weaponsmiths make all the crafted weapons except for those made by woodworkers.

10.2.3. Scholar
Scholars are Alchemists, Jewelers, and Sages.

In addition to fighter skill upgrades alchemists can also make the best quality potions and poisons available.

Jewelers make scoutMaple Story Mesos skillMaplestory Mesos upgrades. This alone makes them an excellent choice, as you’re able to make your own apprentice IV and adept III skills. In addition you’re able to make earrings, bracelets, and imbued rings.
Maplestory Power Leveling
Sages are not a popular choice for scouts, as they make only skill upgrades for mages and priests. This is the only profession I don’t recommend you choose!

10. Crafting

10.1. Introduction
In this section of the guide I’ll go through the various crafting professions and explain a little bit about the products ofMaple Story Power Leveling each one, as well as give you a few quick tips to get you started.

10.2. What Profession to Choose?
Many people think that as a ranger they should beMaplestory Gold thinking about Alchemy (for poisons) or Woodworking (for arrows) as those items are the two consumables that rangers use quite a lot of. This is quite true, and there are special benefits to choosing either of those two professions over any of the others. Poisons and arrows can get to be quite expensive as you level higher. It’s not uncommon for raiding rangers to spend 3-5 plat a week on arrows in tier 7.

However I do think that almost every profession has some items which a ranger will find useful and there are good reasons for a scout class to pick almost any crafting profession. A lot of people craft in EverQuest 2 so most crafted items are fairly easy to obtain C so there’s no reason not to pick the profession that looks fun to you.

10.2.1. Craftsman
Craftsmen areMaple Story Gold Provisioners, Woodworkers, and Carpenters.

The provisioners are your suppliers of food and drink C drink gives you increased out-of- combat power regeneration, and food gives you increased out-of-combat health regeneration plus a stat boost (which depends on the type of food you have). This is a great choice simply because food and drink are must-have items which you’ll use a lot of.

In addition to arrows, woodworkers make bows and blunt weapons such as cudgels and staves, and totems with a variety of useful effects such as runspeed buffs, invisibility, and power regeneration.

EverQuest 2 Ranger Guide

Serrated Bone Dirk
About on a par with imbued ebon weapons, the SBD is definitely worth questing for as it’s quite an easy quest to do in a few hours if you have a group with you.

Polished Granite Tomahawk
This is a fantastic item I still use fairly often even though it went grey long ago. It procs a buff that gives you a 500 point ward, gives you back 100 or so power, and increases your strength by a small amount. If you have both this item and the Manastone you are pretty well set up until the late 40s as far as power goes, as you can use the Manastone after proccing the PGT and the ward from the weapon proc will prevent you taking any damage from the Manastone. This quest requires access to the Cove of Decay.

Fishbone Earring
Many people I know, myself included, are still wearing this at level 50. It’s very hard to find a better earring for a scout unless you have fabled (andMaple Story Mesos unfortunately fabled earrings are quite a rarity in comparison to other items). The enduring breath effect makesMaplestory Mesos it an item you’ll want to keep in your bags even after you replace it with a new earring.

Crown of King Trannix
This is the best non-fabled helm you’ll find for the level. It has ideal stats forMabinogi Power Leveling a scout even though it’s fairly light on power and mitigation (since it’s very light armor). This is a very long and quite painful quest but the reward is well worth it.

Golden Efreeti Boots
Again, even though these are very light armor, the Flowing Thought effect on these boots makes them a great scout item. The quest is quite long and requires access to the Bastion of Flames, which is a longish quest in itself.

9.9.2. Other Heritages
There are a few other Heritage quests that will reward you with usable items, but none that I consider as being essential. All the Heritages are worth doing for guild status and cash anyway, as they’re worth 5-60g to a vendor, depending on the tier of the quest. Alternatively you can mount them and place them in your house if you wish. They’re also worth quite good experience if you do them at the intended level.

EverQuest 2 Ranger Guide

Manastone
This one is a must-have because at level 50 it gives you 202 power in exchange for 690 health. It’s usable every 60 seconds and has a one second cast time and it is equipped in an activatable slot. I wouldn’t be without it, and I’m only sorry I didn’t get it earlier than I did (I finished it in my early 40s). This quest requires access to the Cove of Decay in the Thundering Steppes (start the access quest by freeing the centaurs in the Ruins of Varsoon).

Flowing Black Silk Sash
Excluding fabled items, his is the best belt you’ll find as far as stats go. Not only that but it gives you 15% haste as well. Two very good reasons to do thisMabinogi Gold quest as soon as you’re able.

Short Sword of the Ykesha
This quest is fairly easy to go with a 35+ raid or a 45+ group. The SSOY is a weapon you could find yourself using even at level 50, as it’s a fairly nice slashing weapon that is able to hit raid mobs. I still use this one myself, for pierce-immune raid mobs. This quest requires access to Deathfist Citadel (which you will want to do anywayMabinogi Money to get the Bloodlet Bow).

Shiny Brass Shield
This isn’t something I use often, but it’s a decent shield, with a useful proc, and so I keep it around to use when I have to tank.

Evil Eye Bag
This is a twenty-slot weight reduction bag so the quest is well worth doing as it’s quite easy and quick. There’s one longish camp at the beginning but apart from that it can be completed in an hour if you’re lucky.

Journeyman’s Boots
These boots are the reward for a long but quite easy quest that involves running races in various outdoor zones, trying to finish the race circuit within a time limit. The boots are a great reward, as they add +10% to runspeed, and stack with pathfinding and Forester’s Insight. You’ll want to keep these for traveling even after you get GEBs.

Mabinogi Online Gold

EverQuest 2 Ranger Guide

There are tons of new collection quests in Desert of Flames and Kingdom of Sky that yield some pretty nice rewards C armor, weapons, and fun items like pets, house items, and a neat pair of boots called Gnomish Spring Boots that force you to jump up and down for several minutes when you activate them (these are the reward for the medium airship plating quest from Kingdom of Sky).

9.9. Heritage Quests

9.9.1. Must-Haves
This table lists the Heritage items I have found useful at some time (and some I’ll probably never outgrow) C the ones I consider worth doing for the items themselves rather than the money or status points.

Item Starter
Manastone Stiletto’s Orders (tradable, dropped by Stiletto in the Thundering Steppes (by Shrine of Decay area) Flowing Black Silk SashMabinogi Money Old Man Yoru in Windstalker Village in Antonica Short Sword of the Ykesha Sasha, ranger cabin in Zek after completion of the DFC access quest Shiny Brass Shield Grozmag the Trainer at the bridge to Deathfist Citadel in Zek Evil Eye Bag Foomby in the Enchanted Lands Journeyman’s Boots Cru Naseto, at the North Qeynos bridge in Antonica Serrated Bone Dirk Leelav Yekl on the beach near the docks in the Enchanted Lands Mabinogi Power Leveling Polished Granite Tomahawk Obsid Boulderbloom at the Giant area in Thundering

EverQuest 2 Ranger Guide

9.8. Collection Quests
There are several collections that yield must-have rewards, and many more than give sizable experience rewards as well. I have personally done almost all of the collection quests currently in the game and there are well over 100 of them. See section 11.6 for tips on good locations for harvesting collectible items.

There are leaf collection quests in Antonica, Nektulos Forest, the Enchanted Lands, and the Feerrott. These reward you with, respectively, 10, 18, 24, and 30 slot bags, as well as good experience. Out of all the collections, these are the onesMabinogi Power Leveling you absolutely must do, as the bag space is invaluable (particularly if you are a crafter).

There are nearly 20 “racial” bone collection quests in the game C these reward you with around 2% experience each, and an item which grants the illusion of that race. There are also several bone “type” collections (cracked, weathered etc) but I don’t recommend doing the first three of these if you are just in it for the rewards and experience. The unscathed and enchanted bone quests are worth doing for the rewards, but for the others neither the experience nor the item reward is really worthwhile by the time you’ve collected all the bones.

I consider the coin collections worth doing because each of them requires only three items, all of which are usually common harvests in their respective zones. There are Erudin (Antonica), Neriak (Fallen Gate, Lavastorm), Rivervale (Enchanted Lands), Grobb (Feerrott), Ogguk (Feerrott), Halas (Everfrost), and Ak`AnonMabinogi Money (Lavastorm, Solusek Ro) coin collections. The rewards for these are around 2% experience each plus a house item which grants a small amount of rent status reduction.

Similar to the bone collections, there are also two types of shard collection. These are all good experience as long as you do them at the right levels, for example the scuffed and chipped collections should be done as soon as possible as they’re quite low level quests.

Most of the other old-worldcollections aren’t worth doing solely for the experience reward unless you do them at a low level, as the experience dwindles away to almost nothing once youMabinogi Gold get above level 20 or so.
